Late Wood: Solstice Tree (Farm Projects, October-November 2024)

Solstice Tree is an accumulation of writings, illustrations, and biodiversity loggings as a tribute to Beech Forest, a natural and historical icon of Provincetown which supports numerous species of birds, insects, mammals, plants, and fungi. This art exhibition and forthcoming book comes as a response to a prolific foliar disease that threatens the local beech trees’ existence as well as the ecosystem that they support. This specific plight is merely a hometown story that encapsulates the wider threat of habitat loss brought on by the climate crisis of the modern age. The resulting work is an exercise in confronting eco-grief as well as an act of radical love and attention towards place.
